The latest weekly export update showed 2019-2020 marketing year shipments of U.S. cotton at 5.248 million bales (mb) through Thursday, January 23, a point in the marketing year when an average of 31% of what turns out to be total exports have been shipped (shaded area). This pace projects total 2019-2020 exports of 16.794 mb (green line), down 130,000 bales from the previous week but still 3.196 mb, or 24%, above 2018-2019’s reported total shipments of 13.598 mb (red line).
