The latest weekly US Drought Monitor update, for the week ending Tuesday, January 6 (slide 1) showed drought readings were little changed from the previous week (slide 2)
The area of concern for the US Midwest continues to be Illinois, Indiana, and the northwest corner of Ohio as readings worsened this past week. The latest map is also showing increased drought across the US Midwest compared to the same week last year (slide 3), though the Plains are generally in better condition as we approach the midpoint of the winter season.
